Something about this world
Takes the fire out of good faith
Makes me want to ask myself
“Did I have it in the first place?”

But it’s hard to believe
When the bankers and thieves
Are nestled in their towers of steel

As the rest of us sleep
In the smoke, on the streets
They’re indifferent to our ev’ry appeal

And God
I don’t know how much longer I can fight
On this little blue world
Is anything going right
Tonight?

Look at Domino, she’s standing on the corner
Gave her jacket to a homeless man
We’re in the gutter but we’re staring at the starlight
Help each other any way we can

I know;
You’ve been discouraged, my friend
It’s ok;
‘Cause God’s back in action again

See the shelter for the mother seeking refuge
And the charities that love to give
We’re so accustomed to dwelling in the darkness;
We forget we need the light to live

I know;
You’ve been discouraged, my friend
It’s ok;
‘Cause God’s back in action again

Is He in the human heart?
Or up there in the stars?
Doesn’t matter;
God is back in action.
